Good info, I knew there were Propane or Gas refrigerators. From what our Amish neighbors in WI said-they work quite well. Apparently there's also kerosene freezers! Now my question is there some sort of gas air conditioner that only uses minimal energy for the blower? Something that could be run off of a battery bank or small solar bank? ;D

Oh ya.. you have that sun shiny thingy in the sky! I have seen solar powered swamp coolers for sale. Just can't remember where. Might ask the Lehman folks they might know. I know I could not of lived in San Diego the first two years without one. Let me do some digging around too. For the Hot water,, my Parents run a 150 gallon water tank off solar panels and it did not cost a whole lot for the set up.

The cheapest way to get a propane refrigerator is to find an RV salvage yard. Get a 2 door model that doesn't have automatic 12/112/gas changeover. You need a constant source of 12 volt for those. A manual changeover is what you want. The average size will run a month on a 20 pound bottle of propane.
