This is kind of a rant or maybe a vent. When I went up north last week for my Dads funeral, I saw alot of people I haven't seen in years. Everyone was asking "How are you doing and what are you up to these days?" So I spent about 2 hours wandering aimlessly at the "Tea" following the service talking to people about how "No I don't really have a "farm" but I raise animals to feed my family because the 'food' in the grocery stores is pretty much toxic waste." There follow-up responses where stuff like "Oh...so do you "sell" your eggs at the markets?" Or the ever popular "Oh..I see...." with that glazed donut look on their face! They read all the news articles about the bad food products in the world, and they get angry when their friends drop dead at 45 but they just don't get it! And it's become incredibly clear to me that if your not making money, doing what your doing, well then, your about as usefull to the world as a third nipple. I don't get, why they don't get it. Okay, that feels better! This is the primary reason why I sought out forums like this, so that I can have someone intelligent to converse with who won't get that glazed donut look on their face! ;D Thanks for listening!

Oh boy, I've seen that look before and it both hurts and fries you at the same time! Those types will also respond when you tell them " I stay home, raise & process our food, homeschool our son & volunteer at the food pantry" ........................ "so you don't work??" For years I felt like my contributions weren't worth anything because I didn't get a paycheck. Society placed/places no value on what we do and that is just wrong. This is one area of life where I'm a bit militant now! And Auntie is right, no matter what you're loved by all of us. IMO, we're all in this together-rich or poor, working at home or out in the business world; we all have value and make our own contributions to our families & communities!!

I love it! Glazed donut look !?! I can so relate! Just about everyone I know thinks it's "quaint" and they really don't get that I have chores to do at certain times during the day. Oh well. I love it and that's what counts. It gets my kids into nature and very aware of what they are eating and where food comes from. Dh wouldn't have it any other way either.

I love glazed donuts. But I didn't know you could buy seed. Is it a bush or a tree.
On the other hand I been gettin the look since I was little. So I usually end the conversation when I see it or sometimes I really throw in some absurd comments just to really get the frosting to melt LOL

If you really want a "glazed donut look", explain to them how all the "money" they spend their time working for is a fraud, worthless fiat, has lost about 95% of its purchasing power since the federal reserve was set up in 1913 (do the math with that one!), is unconstitutional...well, you get the picture. There's just something both funny and sad about the way people react to this...especially when you have all the charts, the COnstitution, etc. there to prove it...
Better to work for quality food than for worthless paper.
