The last couple weeks, dh and I have been racking our brains trying to decide if we should rent a kubota with a tiller for the weekend. We really need to till our yard again and replant, plus for a garden spot. The last two years our old rototiller pretty much bit the dust. It is old, and the chain broke on it. Can not find a chain anywhere so have to repair it by by links for the chain at the motorcycle shop. It's one of those deals where you make a lap, chain breaks, waste 2 hours taking it all apart and fix chain, then make another lap. Anywho, dh looks at me this afternoon and says "Let's just go buy a darn rototiller." Came home, dh who hasn't had a day off in weeks and weeks and goes to bed by 6:30pm every night was out rototilling the yard until dark. Nothing like a new toy to keep him up pass his bedtime. So, you all will know what I am doing this week. Finally getting my yard in shape, and redoing my garden spot to get ready for planting. ;D

Nice thing about tillers on a farm - tax deductions. ;D

Neat Deb! Hubby was out tilling the area I want my Herb garden in. Think men just like to play with machines. ;D
In Oregon you have to be in their very restrictive program to get any kind of deduction for any Farm equipment. We looked into it,, and it was not worth it any more than the Forest land thing they have going. Sadly,,, basically Oregon gets the majority of the profit and you are left with very little. Is cheaper in the long run going it alone. This state is so messed up with those kind of things it isn't funny.
NH had a better program.

Yep, We are not classified as a farm either. Thought about it, but it just isn't worth it here. Sure would like a break with our taxes, but it's not worth the extra paper work or having to answer to anyone about how I use my property. Guess who finally took a day off? Yep, dh is out tilling already. He had the excuse that it was suppose to start raining and he wanted to get a first ground breaking going first. Silly man! I think he was just afraid I would get more use out of the tiller then him. ;D

Deb as you know it isn't much of a tax break....and the requirements and quotas one has to meet....and all the extra taxes one has to pay. You end up loosing more money being in the State program than going it alone. Really scary to me and very sad!

You'll love it, I am sure. I couldn't even visualize my life without a powerful tiller. The creative possiblities are only limited to your imagination and are endless...Enjoy. Deb ;D

Oh man, we are loving it. It's been about a month since we tilled the yard up, and planted seed. I have grass!!! Haven't mowed yet, because we reseeded the thinner spots (we live on a hill so seed slides when it rains) but it is filling in nicely.
We also used it to smooth out the ruts in the driveway, and make more flowerbeds. Now to get dh working on paths, and I am a happy camper.
