Well the snow and cold came much too early this year. It seems we have only two seasons, summer and winter. We had snow covered groups a couple of weeks ago, there are still a few little piles under trees. It's been pretty cold too, today the high was maybe 35* I'm not even sure if we'll get our indian summer this year. The ground is turning hard and the water buckets have ice on them. I've even started plugging my car in at night. I have so much that didn't get done this fall before the cold hit The winter may prove to be interesting too. Another el nino year.

We're supposed to get Frost for the next 2 nights. It's early for here from what I can tell. I still have to caulk some windows and put weatherstripping on the back door. Luckily, it will warm back up some for me; whereas in the Northwoods it might be cold for the next 5 mos. El Nino ey; I didn't realize that!

We might get snow flurries the next coupla’ nights along with temperatures in the low thirties. As it stands right now, I have to cover my sugar snap peas and close my cold frame, but after that should be back up into the forties at night. We usually don’t get much of the white stuff until February.

I only had a webcam but it captured the winter wonderland pretty good. ;D I have them framed with holiday frames because I used them for my holiday cards Christmas 2003!

Uh, oh. Looking at your pictures, Kathy, now I'm worried...we are planning a trip to Monroe, Mi. and S.C., and then farther south with our 5th wheel for the first time going a long distance. We plan to stop at a year-round campground in Ky. or Tn. This is a vacation to include visiting the kids and grandkids plus some time to just relax in warmer weather. I may not be relaxing if we run into too much of the white stuff. BTDT in winter (not pulling a trailer though) through the mountains in WV. Living in northern MI. we are accustomed to driving in lots of snow but southern drivers aren't. You have to watch out for everyone else. This is the only time of the year for us to go as hubby's work is mainly in warmer months. And, yes, the cold/snow has arrived earlier this year. The leaves never went to vibrant colors because of the early cold and windy weather. Around here most of the maples turned golden only. I do hope there is a break in the cold temperatures as we have a replacement window to put in which was to be done before winter arrived. Nappy

I looked out my kitchen window today and noticed the trees across the street had started to turn and there's some reds! ;D I don't think too many campgrounds in KY stay open year round; if they do, I don't think they keep the water and bathrooms up. Labrat is from KY and he may have a better idea of what's available. It's been close to 3 yrs since I lived in KY so there's always a chance things have changed. It's been close to 18 yrs since I've been to Monroe but I remember that with the Lake Effect snows we used to get dumped on at times. There was way more snow than cold along Lake Erie. Your trip sounds like fun, I'll hold good thoughts that the weather is perfect for this trip.

One thing I go is take extra cash to work and keep it thereduring the winter. In case I have to stay over and can't get home. I usually keep and extra set of clothes in my car also also a blanket.
