I am learning about the wide world of home canning. Amazing NEW technology there ;D.
What do you keep canned as part of your survival planning?

Meats & sauces such as spaghetti sauce, bbq sauce & salsa's. With canned meats having a variety of sauces gives you the ability to change the flavors & menu easily. ;D
Soups are another nice SHTF addition to the pantry.
I also can vegetables & fruits as well as dehydrate some.

I wish I had the time to do more canning, unfortunately I don't. So I buy canned things. I always keep lots of tomato things on hand and lots of them. Tom. paste, sauce, chopped toms., stewed toms., pureed toms., whole toms., Spaghetti sauces (different varieties), tuna, enchilada sauce, pastas, cream of soups, and a ton of dry foods too but mostly beans and oats and flour.

I do what Marchwind does but for different reasons. Used to keep us stocked up but haven't been able too lately.
Another thing I used to love doing and had to borrow a friends spare at the old place. Is dry food. Easy way to preserve stuff.

I don't have a pressure cooker, so I'm pretty much limited to fruits, jams, pickles, and tomato products. However, I am VERY grateful for those and my SHTF stash has gotten me through a lot of crises that are far less exciting that what I might have been thinking of when I stocked up. For example, between the pantry and the freezer, I was able to go for three months without buying food or doing much cooking when I had to deal with an unwanted and unexpected move, and it really helped out a lot. I've also been "downwardly mobile" for some time, and when another economic squeeze hits, we usually have some time to figure out what we're going to do about bills before we have to figure out how we're going to eat.
Dry beans and flour are very important to have on hand as well as canned goods.
