I'm wanting a manual grinding mill. However, I'm not sure what to buy. I want to make meal and flour. Any suggestions are appreciated.

I have a Country Living Grain Mill-it's really powerful and will pretty much grind anything I've ever tried! I got mine before Y2K and can't remember which supplier I used but I found this info for you. waltonfeed.com/country.html

We bought the Country Living mill and have been very happy with it. We've only done flour but I can get it as fine as pastry flour or a course as chicken feed.

The Country Living Grain Mill, YEP ... that's what I have too! I got mine with the extended handle for easier grinding and an additional burr for grinding larger things like corn or beans.

Dirty, that is the best price i've seen on these mills. I've seen them as high as $749.00 Cdn which a year ago was about $500 US, I think.

that's kind of what i thought i've searched quite a bit. but it's nice to hear somebody confirm my thoughts
hopefully now i can locate a grain supplier close by, before the sale ends. the shipping on grain is to expensive to justify the purchase otherwise.

I have 3 Retsel mills. I have two hand mills and one GIANT electric one(Milrite). I LOVE my electric one and it has an optional handle to use if the electricity goes out! Love it Love it Love it! It is HUGE and made to last for a long time! I bought mine from a woman about 10 years ago...she bought it in the 1970's. I have used it nearly every day since then! I recently had to replace the stones, which weren't cheap....but it works wonderfully well again now! A nice new BIG mill...that will grind anything and everything is about 500 dollars, but they have smaller hand mills for around 150. I bought two of them on Ebay for 40 dollars total...and one is not in great shape, but the other one was perfect! I would check ebay first before buying one for full price! On used mills...make sure you can see the stones or burrs first!!!!! If they don't have a picture of the stones or burrs you may be getting a mill that doesn't work without replacing the stones! I paid 200 dollars for my mill and have NEVER been sorry! Did I mention that I love it! LOL!

Check with some of the mail order places. Seems alot of them have free shipping inside the US. Doesn't help me much here but should work great in your case.

I'm thinking I paid something like $335.00 for my Country Living Mill but I've had mine for several years and you know how everything is going up in price.
