well a weasel moved into the squirrel hole under the shed. i've looked around on the net. looks like i need to get a leg hold trap.
anybody have any other suggestions on how to get rid of this thing?
it looks smaller than i thought a weasel would be. i do have a havaheart trap. the trap is meant for slightly big creatures.

If you don't want to invest in a leghold or a smaller live trap you could make a deadfall trap from local materials. Here's a link that shows a deadfall in action: wildwoodsurvival.com/survival/traps/paiute/paiute01.htmlIf you Google 'deadfall traps' you'll find out more than you wanted to know about 'em. I think I gave all my old traps to my nephew years ago. If I still had one I'd send it to ya. Don't know if I had one small enough to be weasel-size though.

Have you get a cat? Mine will tackle anything from rabbit size on down.

Kyosa- that is a cool site. i've added it to my favorites. i ordered a small trap. i do have a live trap for raccoon sized animals. but it isn't working on this little guy. Momo- i did have a cat but he didn't like getting up, let alone going outside. i used my live trap a couple of years ago to try and catch a raccoon. i ended up catching my cat three times. ;D the last time i hosed him down with some water. he never went in the trap again. i got lucky one night and saw the raccoon climbing the fence into the chicken coop. no more coon.

I know that moth balls work for skunks I wonder if they would work for a weasel? I would tie some up in a pantyhose leg and put it down the hole or the opening and let it stay a while. That way you can retrieve the mothballs. They are pretty toxic things!
