firewood has been a continuing problem since i moved up here. the problem being i haven't been here long enough to let the wood i cut and split time to properly dry, before i need to use it. what a difference three days makes. someone just gave me ;D seven pickup loads of oak(already split) and half a truck load of kindling. the kindling is all 3/4"x3/4"x18" looks like it came from a factory. this wood all came out of this gals basement. she got divorced and the ex took the wood stove out of the basement and left the wood. so on Sunday her and her friend helped me get it out of the basement. yesterday and today i spent making trips back and forth loading and unloading it. she said she's been trying to get rid of it since the divorce, ten years ago. i guess nobody wanted to go through the hassle of getting it out of the basement. yea, you read that right, the woods been sitting for ten years. doesn't get much more seasoned than that. i was surprised that there wasn't any rot. it was stacked off the floor. i now have easily enough great wood to get me through this year and most of next year(maybe all). before i need to use any of the stuff i've already split and stacked. by then that stuff will be well dried. the best part is i still have three months of firewood cutting season left. ;D maybe i'll have enough that i can just take next winter off. sit around and bask in the warm glow.

That is so cool, and only someone who heats with wood could understand what a big treasure that is! Ten years....that's amazing. At least the wood wasn't heavy and wet when you had to move it, lol.

That's quite a find! Let's see, now... A divorcee with a basement full of wood..... Does she happen to own a motorcycle or a bass boat? Own a liquor store, maybe? Ya might want to keep an eye on this gal!

Good score Dirty! That's a nice amount of wood. Means next year if you don't take it off, you can only work at it when you wanna and still stay ahead. Kaza

Ya might want to keep an eye on this gal! she's got a dozen dogs and half as many cats. i couldn't deal with that. just to wrap up the thread. i wasn't in the basement. when we stopped last time. she said there as a little left down there. went back sunday to get the little bit. her idea of little bit was different than mine. got another four truck loads. now the basement is empty and the woodshed is full
