I keep hearing about the Firefox operating system and how much better it is than Internet Explorer. On another board, someone said you can download it for free and switch between IE and Firefox. They lost me after download. I know how to download programs but what is this switch they're talking about. Also, I'm on XP and everything in my files was filed away while on XP. How would changing to Firefox affect those files-opening them I mean? Thanks

When I downlodaded it it put a icon on my desktop. I log on using AOHell and then I just double click the fox and use it to surf with. Absolutely ZERO popups etc. I have also used it to surf using other providers. I had peoplepc for a while and I just made a icon for my connection with the number for peoplepc and then just double clicked Firefox and took off from there. It is very user friendly and you can have multiple tabs up at one time so you can switch back and forth between different pages etc. I still use all the programs I had using the other browser. No problems at all. They couldnt get me to go back even if they offered me the web for free to use anything else but Firefox. Download it you wont be sorry. If you dont like it just hit uninstall. After a day or so youll be hooked

Where I think they got you confused at Kathy is when they called it an Operating system. It is not an operating system. Windows XP will still be the operating system. You would just be using firefox as your active internet browser(instead of using Internet Explorer(or exploder if you are one of the many who dosent like it, myself included)). so all Firefox would do is take the place of your Blue E Icon basically(for those of you who didnt know that the blue E icon was internet explorer). Another one to check into other than Fire Fox is Opera Javaless browser. It has no Java capabilities so it can not be used on some sites but most of the malicious code in web pages are wrote for java so it will help keep you computer a little more secure. Just for the record. I use Netscape Navigator, Firefox, and Opera for my web surfing needs.
