I am running Windows 98. I do not go on-line every time I start my computer(nor do I want to).
When I first start my computer it brings up the usual things across the bottom, no problem. It also brings up:
OLFax MOD - Intel HaM Data Fax Voice #2
I do a Ctrl Alt Delete or a right mouse click to close it. It turns itself back on several times a day. I have tried to figure out how to uninstall it, but it is not on the list of things to install or uninstall. I've tried to delete it. Didn't work. It's like Shakespeare's spot that won't go away!
It interferes with other programs (I suddenly don't have enough memory) and in my attempts to get rid of it, I now have Netscape opening when I boot up. How can I get rid of this program and how do I tell Netscape not to open unless I want it to open? I'm tired of it opening and then fussing because it is not connected to the Internet.
Suggestions?

Myra, have you gone to the C drive then program files to see if this Fax thingy is showing up in the program files? I have a lot more stuff in program files than I do in my add/removed programs file. If you do delete something out of the program files, just don't empty your recycle bin until you're 110% sure you don't need that program to make things run ok. There is a way to just disable files but I'm using Windows XP-so the commands might be slightly different. If you want to know how to disable files; let me know and I'll type it out for you. ;D

Yes, I have. It is not listed, so I'm thinking it is buried somewhere.
I've gone to Control Panel and the Add/Remove programs, it is not listed there either.

You didn't say which browser level you have loaded. Sew... And it's been a long time ago since I had Netscape as a browser. Go Here and see if any of those search topics might have your answer, if not, do a new search at the top of the page. I'm thinking #3 will have your answer. I started the search on this page www.netscape.com/and than in the top search area, where it says enhanced by google than by the Go button it says Don't miss, I put this in for the search how do I set Netscape preferences for opening it's browserI'm just adding the above in case my first link ( Go Here ) doesn't work. And if all else fails, you can make a phone call help.netscape.com/netscape6/index.htmlI have to go help unload a 4 horse trailer full of wood, I'll try and be back to help with the second question. If I don't make it, be sure to get computer wiz's attention . And if all else fails, I'll be back in 4 days to try and help you.

Thanks Juju, but I called my sister (she is more into computer programing than I am) and she told me to click the "start button", hit "Run", type in "msconfig", go to "startup" and uncheck the Netscape and the fax. Took about a minute and was pretty inexpensive to do.
