We have been eating home grown leaf lettuce for two weeks now.
Today we harvested our first green beans. Nearly 3 pounds were ready to pick!

Oh Momo, enjoy them for me too! I have bean plants but it will be a few weeks before I get any beans. I got them in late. Those first meals of garden produce are so good!

My beans haven't even sprouted yet! I think the soil's still too cool. There was a local gardening show on TV that I saw a couple days ago and they said because of our unusually long and cool spring this year, we shouldn't be planting any of the warm season crops out for another week or two! LOL! My tomatoes have been out for weeks now, but maybe that's why they've been struggling so. Still too cold for them, but not cold enough to kill them outright. The lettuce and the peas like it, though. (What's left of them, anyway...)

Today we got our first red beets. About 10 of them. We also got about 4 more pounds of green beans.
For all you northerners..about the time our gardens burn up from the heat..your gardens will be producing like crazy!

I signed up for a Flickr account but I am on such a slooow dial up that I can't even put my pix there. I am so tired of the problems I have been having the past 2 weeks. It just takes forever for even a simple post.
THEY'RE HERE!
Somehow we missed the 6 giant zucchini we had in our garden until today.
Plus another 2 pounds of green beans. Also a mess of radishes for DH.

Kathy, our small peach tree is loaded with peaches. Our big full sized peach tree has none. Go figure.
This year is the first time we planted cauliflower. We harvested our first head tonight so we'll have it tomorrow. We planted some cauliflower for Princess Jr. It's her favorite. Of course, they are out of town this week on vacation.
Dh decided my beets were sooo good that he went out today and planted 2 more rows. He never liked beets much before.

I think I'm going to have to try beets one of these years. The only kind I've ever had were out of a can, and YUK! I can't stand them. Rich likes them, though, and it's a vegetable, so I should be planting them every year! LOL! Anytime I can get HIM to eat a vegetable is a red letter day! I grew up with a mother who cooked out of cans and boxes so there are a lot of things I used to think I hated that I now absolutely love, like spinach, brussels sprouts, and asparagus. So I think next year I'll plant some beets and see if I like them. If not, Rich'll sure eat 'em!
Oh! I have ONE (count 'em) ONE bean sprout now! Wooohooooo! I kind of wish we could have summer now, so maybe the rest would sprout and I might even get some beans before the first frost. Usually we're having hot, dry weather by now, but this year's been so weird. Today it got all the way up to 50 whole degrees! But the wind is howling, so it feels like 20! LOL! Oh, well, soon enough summer will be here and I'll be wishing for these cool days again.

Lannie wait until you taste roasted beets. They get sweet like carrots do when roasted. Delish!
Today we got about 3 more pounds of green beans.
We also got our first fully red & juicy, salmonella free, Early Girl tomatoes!

I picked about a pint of mixed hot peppers; some cayennes, some serrano's and a few hot banana peppers. This weekend, I'll be picking yellow squash. Momo, did you have a frost that killed the blossoms on the big tree? I just found out there's two mulberry trees out there too as well as a huckleberry tree(that's what Buddy said it is). What do you do with mulberries?

Wax beans..I should have planted some of them. I love 3 bean salad with them in it. I'll have to plant some next year.
Today we had 3 more pounds of green beans, 2 huge juicy maters, 3 squash, 4 zucchini and another head of broccoli.
I spent a few hours yesterday cleaning and blanching beans!
