Camping gear in proper workering order? have enough propane?
WAKE UP now is the time to start getting serious about emergency prepardness (if not already prepared)
First aid kits. Medicine current, have enough gauze, bandades, peroxide?? Snake kits?
How about personal hygeine supplies? don't want to give yourself away by stinching.
Have garden seeds saved? better hurry and order.

June just happens to be National Safety Month (FEMA sponsored), were they promote stocking up/safety in case of a natural disaster. I know Walmart is running specials on first aid kits and supplies, and watch your outdoor stores for sales to stock up on your water purification supplies, cooking supplies, ect.

I have been adding to the supplies in the storage room lately....and I hope that the garden produces a good crop this year too...I have had two years of drought and extreme heat ruin my veggies! They are talking/hinting more and more about rationing gas..... I am glad that I have those horses out there! If I can just keep the horse thieves away from them...IF things get that bad! TH

How about matches, fire starting material, flint if neccessary? Firearms and ammo. stocked and ready. Better get it quick while you still can buy any kind of firearm and ammo. Muzzlelaoding, reloading supplies, bows, arrows?? Better watch out for thiefs and dead beats. Is your garden planted for everyone to see or is it camoflauged? Kaza, I'm glad to know that we think alike Thumbs up. Folks things are going to get worse. Better start tightening the belt straps and get ready for a long haul. Crazy folks are coming out of the wood work. Its gonna look like the local fair.

I just picked up matches. Since I quit smoking, I don't keep lighters or matches on hand except for 1 BBQ lighter. I'm going to pick up more matches, and see about a flint. I have plenty of firestarting material-just nothing much to light it with. For the most part, I'm as stocked up as I can store here. I think I have pretty much everything to last me for at least a year, probably longer. I do wish I had somewhere/some way of safely & securely storing more than 18 gallons of gasoline.

I do wish I had somewhere/some way of safely & securely storing more than 18 gallons of gasoline. I know of someone who is storing gas underground in buried plastic barrels....an additive must be added to it to keep it 'fresh'. You also have to have some sort of a pump to get the gas out of the buried barrels....but they are out of sight and plastic does not rust. They left the top 6-8 inches above the ground, so that rain, etc. did not go over the top. With a piece of plywood over the top (to keep it out of direct sunlight, which causes the gas and barrel to expand....and a little vent added to take care of the fumes...) and flowers planted around it...no one knows it is there. I could not afford to fill a 55 gallon barrel! I am doing good to keep my truck on the road. TH

In Michigan I lived in the country, with a grape vineyard and tons of apple trees. This California girl does love the country life, and knows how to survive....but now I am in the city... in Indiana... I have to do with what I can with a small space for a yard. I look at the cheapcycle and freecycle adds for big lots of vegtables for canning... I make soaps, candles, and my own laundry detergent. I have enough shampoo and conditioner for 2-3 years. I still believe in my "back-ups"
