Anyone ever stamp/break the tops over of their onions so the bulbs get bigger??

My father did that every year! Maybe it's a 'Michigan Thing'. He always raised the sweet onions and some of his would go to 2+ #.
I should try that with mine, it wouldn't hurt and might win the admiration of the other gardeners in the area.

LOL Kathy!!! I am convinced it IS a "Michigan thing"!!!
NOBODY has ever heard of doing that before.. and when I saw you had posted here, I said "Kathy's from Michigan, she prolly knows what it is! lol I was right!!!
