Here's another recipe from the 1948 cookbook. I know this sounds strange and weird, but trust me, it was good! And I'm not a big meatloaf fan, so that's saying something. MEAT AND CHEESE LOAF1 pound ground beef 3/4 cup diced cheddar cheese 1 egg, beaten 1 medium or small onion, diced 1/2 green pepper, diced 1 t. salt 1/2 t. pepper 1/2 t. celery salt (I used celery seed instead) 1/4 t. paprika 1 cup milk 1/2 cup dry bread crumbs Add ingredients to large bowl in order given, mixing between each addition. Press into greased (I used butter) loaf pan and bake at 350 degrees for one hour. Having cheese in the meatloaf was not only pretty (very colorful), but tasty! It was like having a cheeseburger. I didn't have any green pepper, so I didn't put that in mine, but I can't wait to make it with that in there - I bet it's even more delicious. It was moist and flavorful, and not pasty or bland at all. ~Lannie

Now that sounds like something I'd really like! I do like meatloaf and I love cheese so what's not to love about this combo? Thanks for sharing, I'm going to get out some ground chuck and make one on Saturday when the temp is going to be in the low 80's. Keep posting those old recipes, they're true comfort food!
