Sometimes I just have to shake my head and wonder... 
I was out weeding in the garden this morning while it was still relatively cool, and when I came back in the house for a potty break, I saw that Bridget, bless her pointy little head, had laid her egg right outside the back door. On the concrete apron. So it has quite a large dent in the small end where it hit the concrete.
I had given her a treat (small handful of cat food) earlier when I went out to weed, and she must have been so engrossed in that, she forgot it was time to lay her egg. "Uh-Oh! No time to get back to the coop. Guess I'll just lay it right.... HERE! Mommy will be happy she doesn't have to walk all the way out to the coop to get it, too!"
Chickens..... well, at least she's dependable.
