A friend of a friend asked us to help ourselves to all her grapes. She only has 4 plants. We went over and picked 20 pounds of beautiful Concord grapes. DH is going to make alot of wine from most of them. They are really tasty and juicy. I don't know how they are so good since we are still in a drought.

I love the flavor of Concord grapes but hate how tart the skins are. Maybe the drought concentrated the sweetness? Enjoy the wine.

I thought grapes had to get hit by a frost before they could be picked?
The ones here are still green... lol
Enjoy those grapes! That's a lotta grapes! How much wine will that many make?

The grapes in Oklahoma were always ready around August so it might be a regional thing...they had a grape festival nearby in Arkansas......I MISS my Concord grapes! They make wonderful juice and are so good for you! I planted mine by the goose pen...and the vines got HUGE...and took over the whole fence...and for some funny reason the geese didn't like them so left them all for us!
Maybe the lack of water makes them sweeter just like it does cantaloupe....cantaloupes are always yucky in years with plenty of water...and LOTS sweeter when they don't get much water!
