Not a bloomin' thing! It rained so much this Spring and at such precisely-spaced times that I just gave up on the garden and concentrated on improving the soil this summer. Hopefully next year will be better.
All your stuff looks great! What kinds of jelly?

Once it FINALLY dried out enough I tilled it and sowed buckwheat. I let it get to flowering stage and tilled it in. Let things sit idle a bit, then sowed more buckwheat. Tilled it in and put on two truckloads of old rotted sawdust from the local mill and tilled it in. I might put some more on (it'll have to be fresh this time) and then all the manure I can get hold of to be tilled in and sit over winter. Should be ready to go next Spring. Never hurts to hope!

I have the poo...but don't have much in the way of organic materials....that sawdust sounds great! They give away free mulch at the landfill..but I am chicken about what it has in it! I will put as many leaves on it this winter as possible! You sound like you'll be ready Kyosa! Today I froze some cushaw(pumpkin pies or bread anyone?). I didn't mess with canning it this time. I wouldn't have messed with it with everything else going on, but I had one that split open on one end and had to use it or lose it! I have a HUGE batch of pumpkin bread in the oven right now. I put a cup of craisins in it too. so...technically punkin/cranberry bread. What did you use for your flavors Kaza!? Those are glorious colors!

I've never grown or tasted cushaw, Nan. What's it like compared with, say, Butternut or acorn squash? Does it keep well?

Kaza, that's an amazing amount of canned goods to have done in the last few months. I know how much work it is so you have my admiration. The feeling of security and accomplishment when you look at all of those good things to eat is priceless. I'm sure you're ready for it to be done though and time for a little relaxation. Enjoy those pickled beets for both of us, I love them and not a single beet germinated in my garden. They should have been up and mature way before I moved but alas, no pickled beets for me this year.
