This year I am going to give everyone the same thing...something baked in my kitchen. I am wanting easy but interesting recipes for baking and gift giving. I have collected little baskets to place the baked goodies in and have lined them with little bread warmers....tiny quilts!

I've used a number of the recipes on this site; in fact I just made the Bavarian Mint Coffee Creamer this morning. The Gifts in a Jar recipe selections are very easy and also taste good. www.giftsfromyourkitchen.com/

For a baked item that seems to be a big hit with both the younger and older people on my gift list, Cranberry Biscotti's are very nice. Cranberry Almond Biscotti2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour 1 cup granulated sugar 1 teaspoon baking powder 1/2 teaspoon baking soda 1 teaspoon cinnamon 2 eggs 2 egg whites 1 tablespoon almond or vanilla extract. I use Almond3/4 cup sliced almonds 1 (6 ounce) package Craisins sweetened dried cranberries Heat oven to 325 degrees F. Combine dry ingredients in a medium mixing bowl. Whisk together eggs, egg whites and extract in a separate mixing bowl. Add to dry ingredients, mixing just until moist, using and electric mixer on medium speed. Add dried cranberries and almonds; mix thoroughly. On a floured surface, divide batter in half. Pat each half into a log approximately 14 inches long and 1 1/2-inch wide. Place on a cookie sheet. Bake for 30 minutes or until firm. Cool on wire rack Reduce oven temperature to 300 degrees F. Cut biscotti into 1/2-inch slices. Stand biscotti upright on cookie sheet. Bake for an additional 20 minutes. Let cool. Store in a loosely covered container. These are very good with coffee or hot cocoa.

Yummy recipe Kathy! Thanks!
I've made chocolate peppermint coffee mix in a jar before with adding a package of those buttermints to a recipe for mocha cappaccino. You just stick the whole thing in a blender and the mints grind easily. I got the recipe idea from a friend of mine.

I love buttermints; I bet that is very yummy. Oh, you know that etched canister I posted the pics of on another thread-it took 3 batches of the Bavarian Mint Coffee Creamer to fill it. I have a feeling the recipient won't run out any time soon.

WOW...NICE gift!!! They will love it! Especially the beautiful canister! I LOVE mint coffee! I have this thing for the bavarian mint coffee from International coffees...but can never bring myself to spend that kind of money on something like that for myself...but homemade is pretty good and much cheaper!
Do you use the powdered milk in skim or regular? I need to mix some hot cocoa up for my daughter!

Those etched canisters are beautiful! A set with evergreens or holly (I collect things with holly on them! ) on them would be a great gift! Especially with something good inside them....there are going to be a lot of cold winter days and some hot chocolate would be a tasty warming treat! I LOVE hot chocolate! TH
