I got this information when I got my puppy. I thought I would share it with you. I hope you can use this information, I thought it was useful.
What to expect from your new puppy
Your puppy month to month
This chart can help you know approximately when to expect your puppy to reach key milestones in its young life and when you can expect to begin teaching specific skills. But every puppy is different-small breeds mature quickly than large breeds.
1 MONTH
Milk teeth are coming in
Weaning can begin
1 ½ MONTH
Nipping, play fighting, chewing
About 70% of adult brain mass is present
2 MONTHS (or as soon as you bring your puppy home)
Begin housebreaking and integration with household
(Including children and other pets)
3 MONTHS
Chasing other animals, thrown objects, own tail
Recognizes own name
About 90 % if the brain mass is present
4 MONTHS
Responds to “Come”
5 MONTHS
Puppy training classes can begin after vaccinations are completed
Approaching adult height and weight for small breeds
(Up to 20 lbs at maturity)
6 MONTHS
Fetch; toys remain important through adulthood
Can respond to: “Heel”, “Down”, “Sit”, “Fetch”, and “Stay”
Sexual maturity for some small breed dogs
7 MONTHS
Milk teeth are lost; permanent teeth are in
Talk to your vet about your puppy’s dental health
8 MONTH
Puppy can be expected to hold elimination for about 8 hours
9 MONTHS
Puppy training classes completed
12 MONTHS
Approaching adult height and weight for larger breeds
(More then 50 lbs at maturity)
18 MONTHS
Sexual maturity for some large breed dogs
Approaching social maturity, adult behavior (all dogs)
