2 quarts (8cups) of water 8 bags of black tea three quarter cup of sugar 16 whole cloves 16 whole cardamom seeds, pods removed optional 5 cinnamon sticks 8 slices of fresh ginger 1 cup of milk more cinnamon sticks (optional)
Combine water, tea bags, sugar, cloves, cardamon, cinnamon sticks and ginger in crock pot (slow cooker) cover and cook on high for 2-2and a half hours.
Strain mixture; discard solids. (at this point, tea may be covered and refriderated up to 3 days.)
stir in milk before serving ( I do half tea half milk). Serve warm or chilled with additional cinnamon sticks fr stirring (if desired)
***Chai tea is a sweet drink, for a less sweet taste use only a half of cup of sugar***
