Im posting this here because I think this really might be a preparedness issue. Remember the big rice scare we had a couple years ago when something (I don't even remember what) happened in the orient and "they"were saying that there will be a global shortage of rice and people freaked out? Well, we here in Canada are having a bad time in the praries with flooding - Most of the farmers don't even have their crops planted yet - they are still under water. It may be like that in northern States as well, I'm not sure. But ~ We were walking through Wally World today because we "had to get that pasta sauce on special for $1 a jar!" when I noticed boxes of lousey (I mean lousey in the sense that they are non-sustaining kinds of cereals) for ...hold on... $6.99 a box! Not a big box - a small box! I just about fainted. Now, yes, I live "up North" now, but food prices are usually low because we had the type of economy to support that I guess, but, I fear we may be on the brink of something. I'm hoping it's just another marketing scare tactic, but I thought I would warn you all. How are grain prices in your area? Gee, for once I'm kinda glad I'm not feeding a bunch of broilers this year!
